Yorkshire day 5 Just a short walk

Friday 10th October Last day in Yorkshire.

Porridge for breakfast this morning, nice creamy porridge and fruit followed by fresh croissant, oh it’s a tough life! We are going on a short walk this morning, only a couple of hours, then coming back for lunch before we all head home.

Down through the Hamlet of Skyreholme and across the fields

Down to the river Wharfe which we had walked alongside on the first day, a stop long enough to have a chat and take some photos of the lovely oak trees that are slowly changing to yellow. There was a man there sawing up a fallen tree from storm Amy, he had set the smaller branches into a fire, he was someone who cared for the wood. Seems such a romantic notion to have people caring for the woods.

Back across another field to the Hall for lunch.

The fence on this field was on the on the edge of a slope that had eroded away, some of the fence was hanging in mid air, it ran down to the river. Lunch was baked potatoes, coleslaw, mashed tuna with celery mayonnaise etc and a green salad, very yummy followed by peach crumble and ice cream! Certainly well fed

Group photo with with two ladies who work there. From left Rachel, Lynne from Lancashire, moi, ? Richard walk leader, Jenny the chaplain, Simon who goes down rabbit holes, Darren partly hidden from Switzerland, ?, Eve, Joy, Stewart and Michael who is a friend of Ronda’s who was talked with driving me back to Guisely by Leeds, where he lives and from where Ronda collected me for our drive back to Stibbard. Tim made us sweet potato chips, broccoli and grilled salmon for tea. Life is tough.
