Thursday 18th to London
Thursday Nice to London
An early morning up before dawn, taxi driver at the ready, all went well at the airport, a quick flight over a very hilly France until there was cloud all the way to London.
Managed to find the train, loaded some money on my Oyster card from last year and got the train to Paddington, for about 7 pound, compared to the Paddington Express which was 15 pound and upwards, I knew where I was going from Paddington so good to be back in London. Time to stop saying bonjour and merci, a hard habit to break. Left my bags and had an hour to fill before getting my room. Was a wee bit blustery if not totally cold in London, although cold compared to Nice. Thought a pastie might warm me up as I’d had no breakfast.
After a nap I walked through Kensington gardens, spotting swans - am very happy with the photo below and 3 squirrels and made my way to the V&A for the afternoon
The V&A is a little overwhelming, the collections are huge. Some Rodin again
I had a good wander around
Concentrated mostly on glass and ceramics in the upper floors, some are displayed, and some are stored in huge glass cabinets, thousands of pieces.
some extremely lovely pieces but reflections mad it difficult to photograph and what would I do with all those photos - just a few favourite pieces.
A turn through the furniture section, a sit on the alcove chair with the mismatched legs and backs.
Perused the museum shop, everything seems too heavy, so that was me done for the day at the V and A - a little bit of rhyming!
