To Wolfscastle

Wednesday 3rd July to Wolfscastle Pembrokeshire.

Woke up to heavy drizzle which was a bit of a shame, but on we go back to Aberystwyth to catch the steam train to take us up to Devils Bridge. The have just opened up a display area of Engines, which looked really amazing. Then onboard the carriage and away we go

Stunning ride up to Devils Bridge, some quite steep in parts, had to stop a couple of times to take on water, they also took on salt which they use to soften the water. Hard to take photos sometimes as too many trees but a great trip nonetheless. On the train for about an hour, but didn’t seem that long

Devils bridge is really high up and legend is that the devil built it. But lit and the nearby pub featured in the Welsh series Hinterland which I had watch. Detective murder mystery which was really good. This photo is looking over the bridge, a long way down. Legend is that the Devil offered to build it if he could claim the first soul that went over the bridge. they let him build it then they sent a dog over. They wouldn’t do that today, there was an ice cream shop beside the bridge - they sell doggie ice creams. There had also been a dog on the train.

We stopped off at a Aberaeron for lunch I had a lamb and mint pasty for a change, and we walked down to the bay front, which looked a bit grim, but there were some nice coloured houses and flower displays along the way,

Next stop was the National Wool museum, yet another industry that has virtually disappeared in Wales, that used to employ many of the people and made lots of money for the owners. the Museum is in an old wooden mill and they are using some of the old machines, teasers, carders and looms mostly for displays and craftwork.

Felted dragon on display, well in Wales there be lots of dragons!

Stopped off at an interesting bridge, and waterfall, where they often paddle the old coracles, unfortunately none there whilst we visited, a pretty spot though.

On to our hotel at Wolfscastle for two nights!
