Llandudno

 Monday 1st July

Was a bit on the grey side when we got outside, a bit of cloud lying a bit to low. I walked with a few others down the pier.

There were little shops and arcade games in the building at the end, no doubt for those summer holiday days when it is a bit cold to swim or [play on the beach - there may be a few of those. The headland to the west of the town is called Great Orme, They have cable cars and a tram car that goes up there, great views and a mining museum at the top, we decided to try later in the day as it was supposed to clear a bit.

The ever present seagulls posing for their picture, checking us out for food more like.

We caught the bus to Conwy to visit the castle there, on of Edward I built by Master James of St George. So 13th century building , UNESCO World Heritage site. Mmmm took quite a few photos will try to limit them, climbed to the top of the tower for amazing views of the town, quayside and country surrounding.

Here be dragons again, did quite a bit of walking around and every way you looked an interesting photo. Some spiral stairs again, and just warnings that they are dangerous. Looking over the town below.

It’s a fair size, you can see a little person on the path - mighty impressive.

Looking towards the river mouth, Mr seagull posing on the tower. Below is looking back over the bridge the bus brought us over on the left, in the middle a suspension bridge designed by Thomas Telford as a prototype of one we will see over the Menai strait to Anglesea. And just a tiny glimpse on the right is a covered railway bridge.

Spent a couple of hours climbing up and down, so went into the town for a drink and something to eat, as we were walking along we saw a seagull walking out the door of a shop with a little toy in its mouth, we stopped him and the shop lady told us his name was Steve, and was always stealing these toys (a wee gnome decoration) I wished I had got a photograph, luckily another member of the group came across him later. Apparently he had stolen 5 that day, plays with them for a while and leaves on the road. Tour Leader suggested his name could be Steven Seagal. Boom boom!

After food and drink went down to the quay to see Great Britain’s smallest house, once six people lived there - not sure how!

We then decided to go back to Llandudno and go up the Great Orme. Unfortunately by the time we got the bus back and got the tram up the headland, there wasn’t much you could see, in fact after changing trams half way up made the decision to stay in the tram for the journey down, it was cold and wet.

Snuck out from the hotel for tea a few hours later, and then back to the warmth for an early night and some television.
