Thursday 16th May - Toledo to Cordoba
A Big day in the bus about 340 Kms to Cordoba, but lovely rolling scenery, rolling hills, red soil, Olives, Almonds and grapes predominating. Some quite spectacular countryside, similar to what I expected in Spain
And then as we were passing through Cervantes country La Mancha - a windmill or two strategically placed for a photo opportunity, I surmised that planes had been flying over - or they have really weird clouds over here. We had a small lesson on Don Quixote, might be quite nice to finish the book when I get home.
We stopped for wine tasting and lunch in Valdepenas at an interesting Bodega ( The owner and some of the more expensive wine is called Dionisos. The make wine by very old traditional method, except they have a machine to crush the grapes rather than having to stand on them. They have these huge terracotta Amphoras that are about 500 years old where the wines are fermented, there are no additives at all, a completely, they rely on the lunar calendar and the quality of the grapes - a completely Vegan wine! I managed to get my photo taken by a fellow traveller that wanted a comparison to the size of the amphora - They no longer know how to make these so we had to stand well away - they can hold 5000 litres,We are in a super fancy hotel in Cordoba a great location close to the Mezquita/cathedral. I may get lost in this bed it is huge, and they have really long pillows, maybe double the length - I’m looking forward to trying it out! We are here tomorrow night as well so a slower start tomorrow, breakfast doesn’t start till 8 - I hope I don’t wake too early.

Omg that bed you deserve the absolute best. Enjoy & look forward to more. Keep well
