Dubai

  18th-20th October Goodbye Amsterdam- hello Dubai The view from my room, but only for a few hours, I was right above the restaurant which was playing very loud music, with a lot of base, I put up with it for a little while, tried earplugs but the base was reverberating through my bed, as it was going to continue to 2am and apparently Sunday night too, they moved me to the other end of the hotel, thank goodness, not sure why they put me in that room to start with, would not have been worth the stop over if that had to continue.  A little sleep. Deprived in the morning, I had a quick breakfast so I could be ready in time for my tour of Dubai.  So that’s the worlds tallest building the Burj Khalifa - I think, I didn’t realise it was so close to my hotel, it was very pretty when I arrived last night with blue lighting. Our guide told us that Saudi Arabia is building one 130 metres taller, so there are already plans in progress to build a taller one in Dubai at 1.3km tall- ee...

Amsterdam Day 3

  Friday 17th October Amsterdam Last Day I really had no plans for today I set out towards what is called the nine streets, an area with more boutique type shops, art and craft galleries and cafe’s. I found the Tulip Museum and a Cheese Museum, who would have guessed? I got a few tulip themed souvenirs and then continued my wandering, to find something to photograph, or spend my Euros on. Not sure who He is, Siri says it is a public sculpture in Amsterdam, Oh and another Cheese shop! There are a few of these decorated bicycles around the place, some advertising shops, this one was particularly nice for such a kitsch object. I noticed these plaques on the footpath, later when I had the opportunity to take some more notice in my hotel room, it was a bit confronting, I think you can work out what they say, here lived, where they were taken to and where they died, Auschwitz.
