Friday 28th June, Cardiff A bit of humour from my hotel  After a bit of a sleep in, as didn’t need to check out until 10am I walked to Cardiff Castle, it wasn’t very far away and always interesting to have a look around. Nice gardens with a sculpture and statue on the way. The government buildings, very imposing but looked like they were empty, or at least the front was not the way to get in there There be dragons here!! Then it was Cardiff castle, still can’t get used to just walking along the street and there is a castle! Quite an interesting history, starting with the Romans , outside and inside you can find parts of Roman walls. About a thousand years later the Normans realised the value of it’s position so built on the ruins, much later it was owned by Richard III who lost it to Henry VII, on through until 1776 when it came under the Bute family who turned it into a bit of a fantasy castle and it was the fifth Earl of Bute gave it to the City of Cardiff.  PS Last Days in London, A few photos I missed as they hadn’t uploaded to my IPad, wandering London after Shakespeare’s Globe, this is the shop I went to, that has carefully curated art supplies, which generally means expensive art supplies. Has a really good name, it’s about choosing carefully something you want to keep. Then there were just a few street scenes on our wander through Covent garden  This is where we had our lunch, downstair, on the other side of the gangway someone was singing opera, quite pleased to be a little bit removed. Not sure what the car was about, or if the guy standing behind it is important,  Phone Boxes were cool.

Wednesday 26th June - London Meeting Ronda at Paddington station in the morning before going to Kew Gardens, Wasn’t that easy a task as she arrived at the other end of the station, we eventually worked it out and were on our way.  It was getting quite hot when we arrived at Kew, didn’t know where to start so headed towards the kitchen gardens, all very tidy and looked over by a man with a spade. Decided just to wander, keeping to the shade as much as possible, found a lovey bronze sculpture  Visited the Palm as The palm house, which is always depicted on tv programmes about Kew. A grander scale of what we have in Christchurch Botanic Gardens. But beautiful all the same, It was getting warmer so didn’t stay there long. Sat under a tree and partook of a Lemon Gelato, well it was hot! 27 and climbing! Headed for the woodland Walk and came across the Temperate House, another beautiful building. ,  Then we found the trees and the pagoda, Somewhere I had seen that it had ...
